Planning a Caribbean vacation can be extraordinarily difficult. There are so many lovely destinations, and not enough time in one trip to fit them all in. Good news: we designed this article to help you narrow down your island bucket list. Check out our favorite destinations below:
Barbados is famous for its pink sandy beaches, but that’s not all it has to offer. The capital, Bridgetown, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The nightlife is amazing, and the locals are very friendly. If you like green, lush gardens, and rugged coastlines, Barbados will appeal to you. Make sure you head over to Oistins Fish Fry for some freshly cooked catch of the day.
St. Barts is a stunning jewel in the Caribbean Sea. It has lush, tropical vegetation, beautiful sandy beaches, fragrant flowers, and soaring mountains combined with a dash of French charm. It isn’t the cheapest vacation destination, but there are plenty of affordable St. Barts villas. Head to the beach and rub shoulders with the rich and famous, or relax in an idyllic paradise and enjoy your privacy.
The Cayman Islands are a group of three separate islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. Popular with the cruise ship set, the Cayman Islands are a wonderful blend of glorious scenery, fascinating wildlife, and a buzzing island vibe. Each island has its own distinct character. Grand Cayman is the largest, but don’t dismiss the other two – they have just as much to offer. Look at Cayman villas and you too can discover the delights of this island paradise for yourself.
St. Lucia is breathtakingly beautiful, yet very down to earth. As one of the larger Caribbean islands, St. Lucia has a vibrant economy and plenty to offer visitors. There are plenty of exclusive resorts tucked away on private beaches, but equally, you don’t need to splash cash to have a good time. Explore deserted beaches and step back in time in old plantation houses. Look up at the Piton mountain range or head over to Pigeon Island. You won’t be short on new experiences here!
Turks & Caicos
The Turks & Caicos are a sun-seeker’s dream. This archipelago of low-lying sandy cays is home to some of the most spectacular coral reefs in the Caribbean. Life in the Turks & Caicos is sublimely laidback. After a couple of days, you too will be on ‘island time’. That is, you won’t feel like doing much of anything! But if you don’t head out into the water to dive or snorkel, you will be seriously missing out. Head here if you want to escape life, at least for a little while.
